I sought out Phoenix’ residential addiction treatment after my girlfriend suggested that I needed to get some help for my addictions. Although if I´m honest I did not really want to come, and I certainly did not know what to expect. However, my life was unmanageable – I had a serious drink problem coupled with long-standing addictions to cannabis and cocaine - and so I decided to give it a go.
I had tried many things in the past and nothing ever worked, so when I got to the rehab centre, I hoped that I would be able to reduce my drug habit to weekend use only. I would have been very happy with that and thought it money well spent.
Now I have been here for 6 weeks and each week I have gained more control of my life and a deeper understanding of my problems in relation to my addiction.
I feel I have gained so much from being here at the residential rehab, more than a hundred times what I expected, and I am delighted with all that it has given me. I have since found out that the centre is listed as one of the top ten alcohol and drug centres worldwide and I can now understand why.
The staff are very kind, friendly and supportive and willing to share their own experiences of addiction which have proved invaluable in helping understand my own and an inspiration to show that any addict can turn their life around if they are willing to follow a simple programme.

I came here with no knowledge of the 12 steps programme, nor had I ever been to an AA or CA meeting. In fact, I had little understanding of the tools available to help me or the power of learning from other people in the same situation. Having now been taken carefully through the 12 steps I feel I have a lot more control in my life, with the tools to maintain that control. I have also been able to work through my problems with the psychotherapist here, which has been extremely helpful to me.
I will always be grateful to all the generous, compassionate, and professional team for helping me gain control over my life (and the food was so good I wanted to kidnap the chef for my own house!).
